First day working at Zara

I just had my first day at Zara and oh boy was it fun. It was awesome, I love it SO FAR, pretty tiring but time goes by VERY quickly when you’re on the floor… I worked from 11-7 so I got an hour break… which is lovely and extra long. We had a quick meeting first thing in the morning, and then off to the floor.

Now the mens department has 2 floor. I was working upstairs the whole day. Love the environment, awesome and funny people; I worked with McKelly and Jesses, both very fabulous and funny people. I’m surprise to know both of them are Filipino too, which makes us all Filipino on the floor (not being racist). They constantly seem to be fighting and I get pretty scared but I learned that they are not at all, they we’re just goofing at each other.

So i was given this CHIC lil pamphlet to read, just to know pretty much the BASICs.

People there like me so far, well at least my manager likes me, so as the 2 fabulous colleagues i have upstairs. I get to work with Morsal as well who I had class with back in high school, only she stays downstairs.

McKelly is FIERCE. ahhaha, omg! he’s hilariously funny and nice. I had a training with him and I wish he stays in my store but unluckily he works at the one in Metrotown mall. He taught me how to fold a shirt and darn it’s a whole new world of folding right there compare to my previous job. He’s got this very funky vibe going on and I feel comfortable being around him.

However, with Jessey, I was pretty intimidated at first. He walked in with his full suit attire on (which later i found out his uniform) and I thought he is someone with like a higher position like a supervisor or something, so I was pretty scared. McKelly walked in with the same outfit/uniform but without the jacket/blazer on (he was complaining bout the room being warm) and Jesse (manager, yes we have 2 jesses) told me already about McKelly and how he’s gonna be training me so I immediately feel comfortable around him.

during my break, I didn’t know where to eat. I grab myself some BBT and then wondered around for a minute or so hoping to find a place to eat… but oh well, I ended up at Dennys where I met this guy who served us (me and rox) one time. He joined me for lunch, and yea, we talk for a bit.

OVERLALL my first day wasn’t as bad as my first day at Liz Claiborne, I remember being so lost and I had no idea how to act on the floor on my first day at Liz… for Zara i kinah knew what i was doing and I handled it pretty well… all I have to master is the product knowledge, i get stucked when people ask me about the product.. and the back stocking as well…

So that was my first day. :hyper:

I still love you ANYA.

May16

i finally get a chance to see the FINALE episode of Americas Next Top Model cycle10. and I must admit, I’m still pretty disappointed of what the result was. on the bright side though, I guess it’s about the right time to have a FULL FIGURED model to win ANTM.

I still love Anya, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I hate Whitney. I’m not a big fan of her, and YES! the producer succeed on bringing a “WOW surprise” factor this season for making Whitney win, but it’s not just that i guess… It’s about the possibility of revolutionizing the fashion industry and inspiring FULL FIGURED model AND the message it will give us… that FATS are beautiful.. toinkz!.. well maybe not… CURVE is beautiful (if they are in the right places) == that sounds a lot better.

having said that, I think the show would’ve come up as a lil blend and boring if Anya won. I mean, she’s never been in the bottom 2 and she’s been giving GOOD PHOTOS from week to week. HER final covergirl commercial was absolutely Brilliant despite her weird accent. whereas Whitney has been on the chopping block for 4times. So the show might have thought it’s just way TOO predictable if they pick Anya to win it.

moving on to the RUNWAY SHOW. I am pretty disappointed with Anya’s performance… it WASN’T bad… but it wasn’t Great either… and that just left me WANTING MORE from her. both her dresses are very stricked and narrow on the bottom part… making it HARD to walk and pull off an awesome walk… whereas Whitney’s second dress has more freedom and movement. THAT I think right there is pretty unfair.

bias aside, I think Whitney’s walk is very “pageant” like… or its way too “out there…” which accrdng. to Tyra, made her stand out. Sigh. whatever! I am happy for Whitney. I hope she makes a BIG, FULL FIGURED, and JUICY difference in the Fashion industry, just like HOW i want to dress petite man like my self.

Job Hunting 2008

May15

It’s been about 2 weeks now when I had my interview with Club Monaco, despite all the ‘goods’ of working there, plus my passion to be part of their team, looks like it’s not really for me. I haven’t received any call yet and I conclude that they are NOT really interested in hiring me. THAT’s OK! no problem with that, I called them just to Thank them for the opportunity.

On the other hand, THIS day has been pretty productive. Roxanne and I went for a full day of Job Hunting; handing resume here and here, hoping any one of those would be the next source of our paycheque. ahahaha. We’ve been to a few places, I’ll try to elaborate where I’ve applied but i can’t really remember about Roxanne.

+ ___ Club clothing store (forgot the store name)
+ FreedMan shoes
+ DKNY
+ Mantique
+ Mexx
+ Plen+y
+ Zara man

so those are my next stop. I don’t know if anything will compare to my previous job, but hopefully it’s a place where I earn more money for this summer… (enough for a plane ticket to go back to the land of the brown. lol)

I ran into a couple of immature fuckstard at ESPRIT. rowdy, party, crazy people at French Connection; I almost bump into the girl who interviewed me at Club Monaco; Lazy, sloppy looking sales rep. at MEXX, friendly old people at Freedman, awesome ‘non-bitchy’ blondes at Mantique, intimidating Asian people at the SUPER SNOOZE (ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz) store I’ve ever visited, DKNY. Some nice people at Zara man, and some arrogant too. Very nice and smiley people at Plen+y

A full day of intimidation, insecurities, and hate, (fake smiles); a full day of HAVING TO OVERCOME them. A nice dinner out for a craving ego. Four big helping hands to the hungry and needy. Fun laugh, tiring adventure, it all ends with a long bath that washed away all the negativity of today, 15th day of May.
